Ferrari S.p.A. is an Italian sports car manufacturer based in Maranello, Italy. Founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1929, as Scuderia Ferrari, the company sponsored drivers and manufactured race cars before moving into production of street-legal vehicles as Ferrari S.p.A. in 1947.

Throughout its history, the company has been noted for its continued participation in racing, especially in Formula One, where it has had great success.Enzo Ferrari never intended to produce road cars when he formed Scuderia Ferrari (literally "Ferrari Stable", and usually used to mean "Team Ferrari", it is correctly pronounced [skude'ri?a]) in 1928 as a sponsor for amateur drivers headquartered in Modena. Ferrari prepared, and successfully raced, various drivers in Alfa Romeo cars until 1938, when he was hired by Alfa Romeo to head their motor racing department.

In 1941, Alfa Romeo was confiscated by the Fascist government of Benito Mussolini as part of the Axis Powers' war effort. Enzo Ferrari's division was small enough to be unaffected by this. Because he was prohibited by contract from racing for four years, the Scuderia briefly became Auto Avio Costruzioni Ferrari, which ostensibly produced machine tools and aircraft accessories.

Also known as SEFAC (Scuderia Enzo Ferrari Auto Corse), Ferrari did in fact produce one race car, the Tipo 815, in the non-competition period. It was the first actual Ferrari car (it debuted at the 1940 Mille Miglia), but due to World War II it saw little competition. In 1943 the Ferrari factory moved to Maranello, where it has remained ever since. The factory was bombed by the Allies in 1944 and rebuilt in 1946, after the war ended, and included a works for road car production. Until Il Commendatore's death, this would remain little more than a source of funding for his racing operations.

2011 NEW MODEL FERRARI 612 SCAGLIETTI REVEAL IN JANUARY 2011

Officially, we are facing a well-kept secret, as the Maranello automaker refused to offer any details about what we are going to see. Even so, the rumormill is working and it seems that we could see a successor of the famous Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, or, rather, a replacer. Because the Italians are preparing a unique model. More precisely a two-door shooting brake which gets its influences fromFerrari 458 Italia (the front0, Ferrari 599 GTB/GTO (the rear) and California (the interior). I know it sounds a bit complicated for may of us, but the result will be a truly unique supercar.

And if the looks don’t impress you, then the specs would sure do. A new 12 cylinder engine will deliver over 640 HP (the exact power is not yet known), with a double-clutch seven-gears gearbox handling the transmission affairs. And if this is not impressive for you, learn that the new model features a four wheel drive system, that allows the driver to us rear-wheel drive at speeds of over 85 mph.

2011 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti On The Track

A new Ferrari is prancing up the company’s Fiorano test circuit and, from the looks of this video, it just might be the new 2011 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti.

Diehard supercar enthusiast Marchettino has caught the 2012 Ferrari 612 Scaglitetti test mule performing maneuvers at Ferrari’s Fiorano test circuit in Maranello, Italy.  As seen before in previous spy photos, the prototype is still wearing the body of the current 612, but the car itself is not the main attraction of the video.  It’s the sound!

Latest rumors place the media reveal in Geneva 2011 followed by a market launch in early 2012.

 

According to various reports, power will likely come from a V12 engine with at least 533  and 588 Nm of torque. Backed up by a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the 612 should accelerate from 0-60 mph in less than four seconds, before topping at 200 mph. Unlike today’s model, the 612 replacement could offer an all-wheel drive system.

There’s also word coming around that the new 612 could also use gasoline-hybrid technology, a system Ferrari developed from the KERS system it currently uses inFormula One race cars. As previewed by the HY-KERS concept, which debuted at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, the hybrid would probably feature a three-phase electric motor and a lithium-ion battery pack.

Sorry, fanatics of Ferrari, but even them feels the need to make cars more economical.  And even if it not  feels EU regulations are sure that all car automaker have an average of emissions.  So next Supercar after F40, F50 and Enzo will be hybrid.  Ferrari turns green!

Honorary President of Ferrari , Luca Cordero di Montezemolo has confirmed rumors that his Enzo successor  to the throne will be equipped with electric propulsion.  According Momtezemolo’s” electrified” super-car  to borrow a lot from company 599 HY-KERS concept, which debuted this year at the Geneva Motor Show .  This model uses hybrid technology derived from the kinetic energy recovery system, and experimented on Formula 1 cars.

Future Hybrid Ferrari Model

Previously, Ferrari said that if release the battery and electric motor cars will still allow  to produce high capacity and performance engine, while compensating with electrical and econom engines.. In addition, the company said it wanted to remove  some smaller car to reduce weight, so to reduce consumption.

Therefore, future design futuristic super-car, which will have more aerodynamic  and interesting shapes than the Enzo, will have a mixture of petrol engine and an electric motor.  But not any electric motor, but one that manages to capture and kinetic energy when braking, notonly  accelerating. So we expect the first green car model that Ferrariwill probably have some enviable performance!

2011 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti Hybrid

Next year at Geneva Auto Show we could see the first Ferrari hybrid. New generation of 612 Scaglietti is the main candidate for the environmental technology exposure.

Luca di Montezemolo, the Ferrari president, said in an interview granted this year, that the hybrid technology developed in the Italian automaker laboratorieswill be ready for mass production in 2014.

The latest information contradict the official Ferrari declaration, the first public meeting with the hybrid propulsion train to be held next spring. Then, Ferrariwill present at the Geneva Motor Show, the new generation of Scaglietti and with this model and the alternative propulsion system.

The rumors, circulated by the German magazine Autobild, announces a Scaglietti as a pioneer of hybrid technology series, certificate by Ferrari, being able to use the resources of a unit composed by a V12 engine and an electric one. According to self publication, on the previous axle will be a 12-cylinder engine and 550 HP, while the rear axle will host a power unit, designed to deliver 100 HP.

The resources baggage will help the Italian model to show off much better performance, while providing a fuel economy of about 35%, similar to that predicted by 599 Hy-Kers concept, at Geneva.

The successor of the four seats model, made in Maranello, is expected on the international market in mid of 2011, its price will be estimated at around $380,000. The hybrid engine will not be the only version.
