Thermal Cameras in Luxury Cars

Infrared thermal cameras are able to detect radiation in the infrared range of an electromagnetic spectrum. Thermal cameras provide visibility solutions in an otherwise un-illuminated environment by tracking variations in temperature. Warm objects stand out against cooler backgrounds when viewed through an infrared thermal camera. Technological developments have now allowed its applications in luxury cars, buses, and trucks as night vision systems.

Statistics show that the majority of fatal accidents happen at night. The risk of driving at night is two times higher than driving in the daytime. Limited lighting conditions on expressways and highways, judgment errors of speed or distance, and driving into headlights of oncoming traffic all pose threats to drivers. Infrared thermal cameras equip drivers with a clearer vision on dark and unlit roads. These night vision systems rely on either of the two technologies that are currently available in the market. Near-infrared (NIR)
radiation, also known as active infrared, works through infrared headlights that illuminate the road ahead, enabling drivers to see converted images of people or animals that are displayed on the screen more clearly. Far-infrared (FIR) systems register the difference in heat or infrared radiation emitted by the objects and do not require any independent source of light from the vehicle.
Thermal cameras have broader applications since drivers not only get the benefit of clearer night vision, but can also detect obstacles on the road, other cars, and sharp bends much sooner, giving them more reaction time.
Modern-day buses and trucks have also become luxury vehicles considering the huge investments in maintaining and protecting them. Such large vehicles in accidents can cause serious damage. Not only does this lead to ruined vehicles, but also to loss of expensive cargo, increased environmental risks in case of hazardous goods, and, most importantly, loss of lives. The ever-increasing demand for infrared thermal cameras for such lateral applications has resulted in effectively bringing down the costs of equipment.
Technological advances in this field now enable integration of real-world images with thermal ones. Newer models such as the TI 45 thermal cameras amalgamate two images to form a picture-in-picture output. The implementation of this can exponentially benefit a driver. The TI 45 also allows users to set alarm limits over the visible light image to identify objects exceeding temperature limits. Thermal cameras such as this also find extensive applications in military and industrial set-ups.

Car Title Loans — A Brief Overview

During financial difficulties, people are able to gather important ways to solve their problems. They may resort to banks, mortgages or credit cards. Others, on the other hand, would opt for the faster solutions such as pawnshops, payday loans and car title loans. Of these alternatives, car title loans have become currently popular. Simpler and quicker solutions to their financial problems are what people are looking for. With such loans, they do get to have the opportunity to address these needs and problems at the quickest way possible.

Car title loans as you may have already known are also known as auto title loans. These loans are secured. You are required to pledge your car’s title as security for you loan. The money to be obtained by the borrower will depend on the value of the car. In other words, this loan is put up against your car. Although you get to surrender the title of your car, it is not required that you surrender the car itself to the lender. The car will still remain in your possession unless you default from payment.

There are several requirements which you need to submit before your loan can be approved. Some of the requirements include: (1) the title certificate of your car, (2) a valid driver’s license, (3) social security identification card or other government issued cards, (4) proof of residency, (5) at least 3 references, and (6) checking account detail. In addition to this, some lending firms would require you to turn o
ver a copy of your car key. You also need to be at least 18 years old to qualify for the loan. Credit history is also not an issue in loan approvals. Since credit history is not a requirement, people who have bad credit or no credit history can be instantly approved. This will not prejudice people who have good credit either. Car title loans are open to good, bad or no credit holders. This has also been a way for some people to build or improve their credit.

Aside from easy application, car title loans offer fast approvals. Approval of loans can be done within 24 to 48 hours. There are times that you can get your loans approve in 30 minutes to an hour. It seems like these loans are really made for emergency situations. Approvals would not only mean that your loan is good to go but also that you can already get your money or receive it at once. You can even pay your bills before the deadline. This fast approval has made it possible for people to pay the things they need to pay in a day and meet their needs on that same day.

These are just some of the important things you need to know about car title loans—what it is, how it works and how much it has helped people for years. There is no doubt that such loans will gain more popularity in the near future than it already has.

Spies Honda Confident End Domination

Ben Spies has a target in the Spanish MotoGP. Yamaha Racing's brand-new rider wants to end the domination of Repsol Honda motorcycle at the Jerez circuit.

Actually, the appearance of Spies in the opening MotoGP race in 2011 was not too disappointing. Former Tech 3 Yamaha Monster star is able to finish in sixth. However, Spies fallen far behind the Honda duo, Casey Stoner and Dani Pedrosa.

"I do not know what Honda are doing, but obviously the quality of the motor is very different and Stoner has been proved in Losail Circuit," said Spies respond Repsol Honda motor skills.

But Spies very confident, with the development of the YZR-M1 motor which began to improve, former World Superbike champion, the optimistic Yamaha Racing can compete with the RC212V at Jerez circuit, next weekend.

"Honda is very fast, but Lorenzo was able to destroy them last year and I hope we can do it again this year,"continued the American racer was reported by MCN, Wednesday (03/30/2011).

"Honda is like this now dominate, and they've done a good job. But we do not need to panic, we are aware of motor capacity can be increased. We believe it will happen,"

Lorenzo Sure Stop Honda at Jerez

In fact, during pre-season test, the Spanish rider is quite difficult to stop the domination of Honda.

The Right Way To Buy A Car 2011

toyota-camry-new-02
Car payments are a huge burden for many American families. It is not uncommon for a family to be paying as much as $800-$1,000/month on family cars. In “The Financial Physician: How to Cure Your Money Problems and Boost Your Financial Health” the longest chapter deals with the car buying process and how to buy right. Here is an exerpt:
WASTING MONEY ON A LIFETIME OF CARS
THE AILMENT
After our homes, cars are the costliest items that most of us buy. In the course of our lives, we will buy as many as 10 to 15 cars. So how we buy and finance our cars can make a huge difference in our financial health.
Years ago, most families had one car, which they kept until it died of old age. Today, families tend to have more than one car and will buy a new one every four or five years. And many people trade up more frequently.
The problem is that cars are both expensive and awful investments — in fact, they’re not really investments. They are de-investments, which is my term for assets that are guaranteed to decline in value. When you invest, you hope that the value of your investment will increase, but when you buy a car, you know that its value will steadily drop. Since the main purpose of a car is to provide transportation, to get you from point A to point B, it may be time to rethink how you purchase cars.
Cars are depreciating assets. Let’s say that you just bought an auto for $22,000. The salesman congratulated you for making such a great deal and as you drive home, you feel like a million bucks. Actually, you should be crying because you lost $4,400 the moment you left the lot.
New cars lose about 20% of their value as soon as you take ownership. Then they depreciate anywhere from 6% to 13% annually. So in the first year, you could lose $5,720 to $7,260. Ouch! The money you lost could have been saved or invested in assets that usually appreciate over time.
If you buy 10 cars during your life at an average cost of $25,000 each, you will lose $65,000 to $82,000 in first year depreciation alone.
Although the car manufacturers won’t like it, I’m going to make a bold, but true, statement:  Unless you’re wealthy, never buy a new car. It will damage your financial health.
TREATMENT
 1. What to do
Buy a two or three year old vehicle that has just come off a lease. Over the years, the quality and reliability of cars have improved dramatically. Today’s cars are built well and can be expected to run for at least 150,000 to 200,000 miles when they’re properly maintained.
Many used cars, especially those less than four years old, have low mileage and look new. If you have them checked out mechanically, you won’t have to worry about buying someone else’s problem and you can expect years of safe, dependable service.
When you buy a used car, the original owner has absorbed the early depreciation. Instead of paying $25,000, you may pay $17,000, which is 32% less that the original owner paid. You also have to finance much less so your monthly payments, insurance and fees will be lower. If you decide to sell the car, you’ll get more of your money back because your car will have held more of its value. Over the course of your car-buying life, buying late-model used cars can save you lots of money.
When cars are returned to banks or finance companies at the end of leases, the lenders don’t want the cars. They want to sell them as quickly as possible to get their money back. So they work with dealers that specialize in selling off-lease vehicles for lenders.
These dealers are called lender liquidation dealers or liquidators. Every month, liquidators receive a large numbers of recently returned cars. The liquidator that I’ve bought cars from gets 1500 cars a month. It takes the best 250, put them in their showrooms and sells them to walk-ins. Then, they wholesale the rest at auto auctions. Since lenders are eager to sell, their liquidators frequently sell returned cars below book value.
Liquidators work with a number of banks and leasing companies and are paid a commission or a percentage of the sales price of the vehicles they sell. The balance of the sale proceeds they receive are turned over to the lenders.
My local liquidators’ showroom is filled with 150 to 200 cars so you always have a good selection from which to choose. They look new, have low mileage (most have between 10,000 and 30,000 miles), have been cleaned up and are certified as mechanically sound by the liquidator. Most cars are priced at three to five percent below book value. You can buy an extended warranty, finance your purchase through the liquidator or lease it or purchase it outright.
I’ve purchased six new-looking, dependable cars from a local liquidator. I bought each for less than book value and have always been well pleased. Buying from a liquidator involves little or no haggling because the cars are so well priced to begin with.

2011 Citroen DS3 R3 Modif Car Pics

The Citroen DS3 R3, a model set to make its rallying debut at the end of 2010, comes with a four-cylinder 1.6-litre THP (high pressure turbo) engine, which has been developed using the PSA production engine. Specific racing parts (air box, camshaft, pistons, connecting rods, exhaust and turbo systems, electronic unit, etc.) have been deployed to boost the car’s power to 210bhp. In addition to its overall power, special attention has been given to increasing the engine’s torque to improve traction, one of the key factors in delivering efficient driving performance. With 350Nm, the DS3 R3 engine offers unrivalled flexibility on the road.

One of the main innovations on DS3 R3 concerns its gearbox. For the first time, a customer-racing product has been fitted with a semi-automatic gearbox, which reduces the time spent changing gears and increases reliability. The electronic management system only authorises gear changes when the engine parameters allow it

MotoGP: Pedrosa Shoulder Not 100% Fit

At the opening round of the 2011 MotoGP Championship at Losail International Circuit, Qatar, this past Sunday, Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa struggled through major pain in his left arm.

Despite the issues, the Spaniard took the final podium spot at the Doha track, finishing behind race-winner and teammate Casey Stoner, and the reigning MotoGP Champion, Yamaha Factory Racing's Jorge Lorenzo.
During the MotoGP race, Pedrosa reported suffering from numbness and lack of strenght in his left arm. Pedrosa was suspicious that he aggraveted his shoulder injury sustained last MotoGP season at Motegi, Japan, and underwent further medical examination this week.
Repsol Honda reported that Pedrosa "passed several tests, consisting in a three-dimensional CAT scan with contrast and MRI and the results showed that there is no vascular or nerve compression in the canal of the collarbone, but there is a small stretch in the plexus, that even is gradually improving, will need still a little more time to finish healing."
Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda RC212V) says: "I honestly didn't expect my arm would react in this way because during preseason I never felt so much trouble and I thought the problem was solved. However, I felt really bad in Qatar race and was aware that the injury is not completely healed.
"It was a shame because in Qatar I found a good feeling and until the second half of the race - that's when the pain started - I was really good and I saw a realistic chance of winning. I would be lying if I said I'm not disappointed because this year the bike is working very well and I'm personally prepared, but unfortunately this complication has arisen and I have nothing else to do but give my best until the injury heals completely."
The MotoGP Championship heads to Jerez April 1-3, the first of four races in Pedrosa's homeland (Catalunya, Aragon, Valencia).

Doctors confirm Pedrosa shoulder still healing

Dani Pedrosa’s hopes of challenging for the 2011 MotoGP World Championship have been dealt a significant blow after doctors revealed he will continue to be hampered by his shoulder injury for the time being.
The Spaniard underwent tests on the shoulder – injured in an accident at the Japanese Grand Prix last October – shortly after the opening round of the 2011 season at Losail having struggled to maintain pace during the latter stages of the race.

Citing numbness and a lack of strength in his arm, specialists have since confirmed that while Pedrosa has no vascular or nerve compression, there remains a small stretch of the plexus and it is taking time to heal.
As such, though it doesn’t affect Pedrosa much during shorter runs, as evidenced by his strong form on the Repsol Honda during pre-season testing, he could suffer fatigue during the lengthier races.
While it won’t prevent Pedrosa from competing, he admits he has no option but to try and ride around the injury until it fully heals.
"I honestly didn’t expect my arm would react in this way because during preseason I never felt so much trouble and I thought the problem was solved,” he said. “However, I felt really bad in Qatar race and was aware that the injury is not completely healed.
“It was a shame because in Qatar I found a good feeling and until the second half of the race - that's when the pain started- I was really good and I saw a realistic chance of winning.
“I would be lying if I said I'm not disappointed because this year the bike is working very well and I’m personally prepared, but unfortunately this complication has arisen and I have nothing else to do but give my best until the injury heals completely.”

Spies No Doubt with Yamaha Potential

Yamaha must acknowledge the benefits of Honda in the first series of MotoGP 2011. Although the competitors showed great progress, Ben Spies will have great confidence that held great potential for the bike.
Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo was able to place second on the podium at Qatar MotoGP race last weekend. But in general, Honda is able to dominate the course of the series opener at the Losail Circuit.
Honda even has demonstrated its superiority since pre-season testing, where they are always able to beat its competitors to be the fastest. This condition is clearly a threat for Yamaha, who last season swept the world championship drivers' and constructors.
Related to the temporary position behind his team, Ben Spies claimed not to worry. Unlike his opponent, which he called only excel in certain circuits, his motor is able to look good in all trajectories. In essence, the greatest potential for Yamaha is consistency.
"Last year we saw the Yamaha worked very well on all tracks. Yamaha is not really strong on a track, where Honda is very good at some tracks and not on another path, and Ducati who have the same trend," said Spies in MCN .
"I think the conditions are the same as last year, although Honda has seen to solve the problems associated with consistency in their motors. I think consistency is Yamaha's strongest point," said Spies.
Continuing racers from the United States, the actual strength of a team will be known after passing through three races. From there to see what advantages and disadvantages of each ride.
"In the third race season everyone will know what will happen and what should be done for profit. We work with what we have. You can see Jorge Lorenzo as a comparison because he was very fast last year and now does not seem that he slowed down , "
"We may have to solve some problems but overall a good motor package. We know the balance of the motor in good condition and we will not see a big problem," Superbike 2009 world champion finished it.

2009 Bugatti Sports Cars Veyron Reviews

In a highlight on this year’s agenda of centennial celebrations, Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. presented four Bugatti Veyron specials at Villa d’Este Concorso d’Eleganza. These one off models are reminders of Bugatti’s glorious motor-racing history which played a central role in popularising and ultimately establishing the myth which the brand continues to enjoy to this day.
The Bugatti brand is almost inextricably linked to the Type 35. The Type 35 Grand Prix was by far the most successful racing model. The unmistakable radiator grille and eight-spoke aluminum wheels of the Type 35 have become defining features of the Bugatti automobile. In its day, the Grand Prix was also well ahead of its time in terms of engineering ingenuity.
The front axle design of this vehicle, which, for reasons of weight minimization, is hollow, is a true masterpiece of workmanship and was deemed nothing less than revolutionary. Its springs were passed through the axle to produce a high level of stability. The Grand Prix’s brake drums were integrally fitted into its lightweight aluminum wheels. Unfastening the central wheel nut allowed the wheel to be easily removed within a matter of seconds and the brake to be exposed. This was a crucial advantage at the pit stop.
The blue racers made their first appearance on the race track at the Grand Prix held by Automobil Club de France in Lyon in 1924. In the decade that followed, they remained practically unchallenged thanks to sophisticated manufacturing efforts, their lightweight design and easy handling. During that ten-year era, they won almost 2000 races – more than any other model ever has.

BUGATTI SPORTS CARS GALLERY

Grand Prix races were highly fashionable events in those days, and Bugatti was not the only brand with considerable interest in substantiating the reputation of its products by winning races. In fact, in the 1920s, Europe was regularly host to a number of different races in different countries on a single weekend. The teams set up by different automobile manufacturers competed at popular race circuits such as Targa Florio, Le Mans, Monza and Spa as well as in Rome, Nice, Antibes and even a village in Alsace.
The main reason Bugatti won such an enormous number of races – on the back of which successes the brand was also able to forge its image – was the fact that Bugatti sold not only its normal sports and touring cars to private buyers, but its racing cars too. Thus it was that its automobiles took part in such a large number of Grand Prix events.
Tradition being what it is, the Bugatti Veyron Specials built to mark the 100th anniversary of the brand feature the racing colors of the respective countries: blue for France, red for Italy, green for England and white for Germany. Each of the four new Veyrons has a specific “predecessor” in the form of an original Grand Prix Bugatti on which it was modelled.
These four historic race cars represent the generation of legendary Bugatti Grand Prix racers which were piloted by world-famous race-car drivers and which scored countless racing victories in the 1920s and ‘30s. Each of the four Veyron Specials is named after a Bugatti race-car driver of the 1920s and 30s. Jean-Pierre Wimille has given the blue Veyron its name, Achille Varzi the red one, Malcolm Campbell the green one and Hermann zu Leiningen the white Veyron.

“We have put a lot of effort into translating colour and material, the defining characteristics of our historic role models, into the designs of the modern-day Veyrons,” explains Alasdair Stewart, Director Sales & Marketing at Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. “We have taken extreme care to match the original colours of the original race cars, exterior and interior”
On Sunday, the four historic racing Type 35s and the four modern-day Centenaire Edition Veyrons will be exhibited alongside each other in the park of Villa Erba for the first and only time.
Ahead of that presentation, Bugatti will on Saturday be prominently represented in the park of Villa d’Este by a special-display-class exhibition of models, which will serve to portray the 100-year history of the brand. Bugatti’s participation in the classic Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este at Lake Como will be the second highlight event to mark the carmaker’s centennial celebrations after it took part in the International Geneva Motor Show in early March.
This latest event will be followed by the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California in mid-August and the main celebratory event on 12 September in Molsheim (Alsace), which has been the home of this unparalleled automobile brand for 100 years.

2013 BMW Sports Cars Coupe i8 Hybrid Reivews

BMW is now concentrating on the development of the first cars to wear the “i” logo, hybrid range-extended and full-electric plug-in vehicles. 2013 BMW Sports Cars Coupe i8 Hybrid is based on the 2009’s Vision Efficient Dynamics concept model, undergoing cold weather tests in Northern Europe.
BMW also unveiled a revised version of that model, called the Vision ConnectedDrive Concept, during this year’s 2011 Geneva Motor Show. The i8 plug-in hybrid sports car is scheduled to arrive in the market in2013.
The 2013 BMW Sports Cars Coupe i8 Hybrid is one of two vehicles BMW has planned for its new green-minded “i” sub-brand. First to arrive will be the BMW i3, a compact 4-seat electric vehicle intended for urban driving. Further up the price and performance scale, the i8 will be powered by a hybrid system incorporating a small gasoline-powered engine—though the exact specifics and power output have not yet been released.
BMW has promised that the performance of the 2013 BMW Sports Cars Coupe i8 Hybrid will be in keeping with that of the brand’s other sports models. Other vehicles will then be added to the “i” lineup after the launch of the i3 and i8.

2013 BMW Sports Cars Coupe i8 Hybrid Reviews

Lightweight materials—like carbon fiber and aluminum—will make up a big part of the 2013 BMW Sports Cars Coupe i8 Hybrid’s structure. This should help to offset the weight of the lithium-ion battery pack and other high-tech hardware beneath the car’s skin. Regenerative braking and BMW’s stop-start system (which turns off the engine when the caris stopped, and then restarts it automatically when acceleration is needed) will almost certainly be included in the 2013 BMW Sports Cars Coupe i8 Hybrid.
BMW R&D chief Klaus Draeger revealed that the diesel unit will be replaced with a gasoline engine in the production model but while the electric motors will remain. “We want to sell it all over the world. Diesel is only really relevant to Europe,” Draeger was quoted as saying.

2009 Veyron Centenary Bugatti Sports Car Reviews

Building on the marque's core values of « Art - Forme - Technique » , Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. has created the Bugatti Veyron Bleu Centenaire, a unique model to celebrate the hundred year old history of the company. This special model takes up the traditional Bugatti two-tone-specification, but portrays it in one rather than two colours: in the most known light shaded Bugatti blue. The Centenaire's unique combination of a « sprintblue matt » and « sprintblue gloss » hence offers a new impression of the two-tone-scheme known so far with parts of the engine also covered in this traditional Bugatti Blue.
The roof-trim-stripes and the exterior rearview mirrors are of polished, anodised aluminium. A special wheel design has been added - enhanced by a bright red brake-capillar. The grills at the front and at the side air intakes are in « mirror shine ».
The interior of the Centenaire is fitted in a special «snowbeige» leather with quilting on the seats. The central console is covered in the same leather. New LED lights, Park Distance Control and a rearview camera have become part of the standard equipment for all Bugatti Veyrons from this year onwards.
The Bugatti Veyron Bleu Centenaire shares all performance characteristics of other Veyron models performance-, acceleration- and deceleration characteristics which have been highly praised ever since the Bugatti Veyron first appeared on the scene. The car will cost 1,35 Million Euro exclusive taxes and transportation. The presentation of these very special cars at the Dubai Motor Show is the final highlight, with which Bugatti ends its Centenary celebrations. We are honoured to complete our 100 Years at this prestigious Motor Show of a very important market for Bugatti.
